I arrived home last night at around 8:30. We left Cochrane and the Bolivians at around 11 and it was so hard. Even though we are going to see them in two months it is still hard to say goodbye.
I'm in Salmon Arm for two weeks and then we are flying to Toronto to all meet up and then to Quito where we will meet up with Carrie, our supervisor.
We have found out a bit about our host community in Ecuador. It has a population of around 500 and is mostly made up of indigenous and mestizo people. The Quechua people are a very politically strong group and speak their indigenous language as well as Spanish. We will not have hot water, internet, telephones, or maybe electricity in all of our homes. I'm really looking forward to it. I think it will be a pretty amazing experience.
For now though I am here in Salmon Arm preparing to go!

Big News
The big news of the week is... We aren't going. The problems in Bolivia have made it impossible for CWY to send us there. We found out last Wednesday and we are kind of shakey on what is going to happen next. What I do know is that the group is being split up, the Bolivians are going home on the 21st of October and so are we. The Canadians are going home for around 10 days and then we are going to Ecuador for 6 weeks. We will have host families and work placements but no counterparts. It should be an interesting experience. I think I will be ok in terms of Spanish but there are some people in the group who are going to have a hard time without their counterparts to translate. Anyways, post me questions and I'll answer them when I can!
